The latest figures on employer confidence in regards to making hiring and investment decisions, have increased by ten percentage points.

In the Recruitment and Employment Confederation’s latest Jobs Outlook (February 2020) they emphasise the positive demand forecast for both permanent and temporary staff. The anticipated demand for permanent staff in the short-term (net: +21) and medium-term (net: +26) this quarter was higher than this time last year.

 Moreover, despite the demand for temporary staff falling back into negative figures this quarter, the short-term and medium-term levels are still higher than a year ago.

Organisations are increasingly recognising the importance of agency staff in improving their business performance;

  • 69% of organisations this quarter, up 12% from last year, highlighted the importance of agency staff in responding to growth.
  • Whilst, 68% of organisations this quarter, up 14% from last year, emphasised the important role agency staff have in managing organisational change.
