According to the KPMG and REC UK Report on Jobs, the demand for permanent tech staff has seen its highest jump since the late 1990’s and contract demand is also high according to reports.

This very substantial increase in requirements for technology staff since January has been influenced by a wide-spread vaccine roll out and easing of pandemic restrictions, continued low interest rates and economic optimism, recruitment activity is busy right across industry sectors.

Employers, however, are facing a continued general skills shortage in the technology sector which has also been hit by a reduction in EU workers.  The Report noted that pandemic related uncertainty and the furlough scheme had also impacted on the unprecedented drop in permanent candidate numbers.

Flexible working is also becoming routine in many companies and coupled with increased salaries, opportunities are excellent for both permanent and contract technology staff.
